NYC has absolutely no chill.
Anyone who visits returns with stories, and I’m no exception.
The most NYC things that happened to me while visiting NYC last week:
Stepped onto the street directly from the airport with all my luggage just in time to hear a driver and cyclist screaming curses at one another.
Observed a group of pigeons in Washington Square Park circling around and communally devouring an entire slice of pizza.
Spent $17 on an umbrella.
Saw a rat in the subway at Jay and MetroTech in Brooklyn.
Observed a guy standing at the crest of the Brooklyn Bridge pedestrian walkway with a Burmese python wrapped around his shoulders, attempting to use it to hit on women.
Watched a man change clothes on the street.
Ignored a person hovering next to me yelling “alcohol party!!!” repeatedly while I was trying to video chat with a friend back home.
Got called a b**** on the subway while sitting still and staring straight ahead.
Stood on the street in the theatre district in an alcove reeking faintly of pee directly across from a gentlemen’s club taking my first bite of a fresh New York slice when a woman walks by, stares me dead in the eye, and yells, “PUT SOME CONDITIONER IN YOUR HAIR!”
Each 10/10 experiences, no notes.
Many thanks to my travel partner Lucy for capturing this magic moment:
