I try to remind myself regularly of this testimony from Flanneryx O’Connor: “I have to write to discover what I am doing. Like the old lady, I don’t know so well what I think until I see what I say; then I have to say it all over again.” But somehow I forget, multiple times a week, and go back to waiting to figure out what I think and what I want to write *before* I start writing. 🫠
